A very rare rectangular gents Audemars Piguet wrist watch in yellow gold, circa 1956.  This case style, affectionately known as the “brick”, originated in the 1940s and was produced into the 1950s.  The present example features a solid 18kt yellow gold snap back case with polished tops and sides.  The case is in great condition displaying minor wear commensurate with age.

The attractive gold dial features a vertical brush pattern in the center with a stunning gold leaf frame and black painted hash-mark indices.  Signed “AUDEMARS, PIGUET”, “GENÈVE”, “SWISS”.  Correct baton-style hour and minute hands with subsidiary seconds.

Inside is an Audemars Piguet caliber 2001 hand winding movement with 18 jewels and 4 adjustments.  The movement is clean, winding and running well and keeping time.  Note that when fully engaged inward the crown protrudes approx 1mm from the side of the case.
