The origins of the brand of the rose and shield harken back to 1926, when “The Tudor” was formally registered by “Veuve de Philippe Hüther”, a Swiss watchmaking house for use by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex.  The Rolex patriarch envisioned this new offshoot as a way to offer watches with the dependability of the flagship brand at a more modest price point.  In 1936 Wilsdorf acquired sole rights to the brand and the signature rose began appearing on dials, a symbol of graceful design.

This charming 1958 Tudor Oyster reference 4463 is in excellent condition and measures 34mm excluding the original signed screw down crown.  Age has lent a creme color to the factory original white dial and a black printed railroad style minute track circles the radium arabic numerals.  The Tudor rose sits at 12 o’clock with “TUDOR”, “OYSTER” and “SHOCK-RESISTING” printed in black.  Original blued steel pencil hands with original radium luminous.

The hand winding caliber 59 SC has recently undergone a full service, is running well and keeping time.

This Tudor Oyster reference 4463 is paired with a black leather strap and steel buckle.
