MOVADO CALENDOGRAF REF 4776 | 1940’s | CAL 470 | 18KT YG

Before the quartz crisis pushed them into battery-powered movements and shopping malls, Movado was a cornerstone watchmaking house designing and manufacturing it’s own cutting edge movements.  In 1946 while visiting the country after the second world war, Winston Churchill was presented with a Movado Calendograf by the Swiss people as a token of their admiration.  Andy Worhol grew fond of and collaborated with the brand.

This scarce Movado Calendograf Reference 4776 was tucked away over the years and is in exceptional condition. Its classically sized 32mm 18kt gold case affords it a discreet look popular with Patek and Vacheron.  Unpolished and near unworn, with original finish and sharp edges. The rare original high-gloss deep copper dial has a mirror-like gold gilt chapter ring with date indicated by a pointer hand and blue printed numbers ringing the dial.  Original stick hands indicate the time via black printed roman numerals.  Month and day are indicated in Spanish and are adjusted via two side pushers.  A very scarce watch in this condition and configuration.

This watch is powered by a 15 jewel Movado Cal. 470 dating from the 1940’s.

Included with a leather strap, gold plated buckle and black travel case.
