A rare, handsome and uniquely styled gents Vacheron Constantin reference 6317 wrist watch made circa 1959, a time period during which Vacheron produced no more than 24 watches in a single configuration. The snap back case is crafted of solid 18kt rose gold and measures 33.5mm excluding the crown. A factory finished matte charcoal dial is machined with a concentric pattern similar to that found on chronograph sub registers of the era, and is fitted with applied faceted wedge cardinal hour markers, the remainder printed in rose gold. Hour and minute stick hands in rose gold. Signed “VACHERON & CONSTANTIN, GENEVE, SWISS”.
The original engine powering this watch, a hand winding V&C caliber 1001 with 18 rubis, is in excellent condition and fully functional. It beats at 18,800 vibrations per hour, has been adjusted to (5) five positions and bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, or Geneva Seal.
