According to Audemars Piguet brand historian Michael Friedman, every watch that left AP’s bench prior to 1951 was completely unique, making it a thrill every time we come across one.  Here we have a fine and very rare gents Audemars Piguet “Disco Volante” timepiece in rose gold circa 1945.  This uniquely styled watch is in very good original condition and measures 31mm excluding the inset crown.  The original finish gold dial features an attractive long format signature, vertical brush pattern, riveted gold hour markers with oversized black printed cardinal hours.  The dial displays moderate wear with light discoloration at 3 o’clock as well as some scratching as seen in the photos.  Gold baton hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds.  The case back is engraved with the initials “HMS”.  Signed: “AUDEMARS, PIGUET & Co., GENEVE, SWISS”.

The original caliber 9/10″‘ RS is finished to the highest standards and features 18 jewels and eight adjustments.  The movement is running well and keeping time.
