According to Audemars Piguet brand historian Michael Friedman, every watch that left AP’s bench prior to 1951 was completely unique, making it a thrill every time we come across one.  Here we have a fine and very rare gents Audemars Piguet “Calatrava” stye timepiece with rare VZ movement, circa 1943.  This classically styled 18kt yellow gold watch is in excellent original condition and measures 32.5mm excluding the crown.  The original finish champagne dial features a vertical brush pattern and applied gold hour markers.  The dial is in overall excellent condition with a small blemish between 8 and 9 o’clock.  Gold baton hour and minute hands with center sweep seconds.  Signed: “AUDEMARS, PIGUET, GENEVE, SWISS”.

The original caliber VZSC is finished to the highest standards and features 20 jewels and eight adjustments.  Service history is unknown, but the movement is running well and keeping time.
