A gents Omega Constellation Electroquartz wrist watch with coveted Beta 21 movement and scarce applied marker dial variant, circa 1970.

After joint development involving 20 of Switzerlands largest watch manufactures, the Beta 21 quartz movement was Switzerlands answer to the Seiko-Quartz Astron 35SQ launched in 1969.  Known for its signature hum, the very first commercially available Beta 21’s powered Omega Constellation Electroquartz watches like this one.

Remarkably preserved, this example comes as close to new-old-stock condition as one can get without being truly new-old-stock.  The robust 38 x 42mm asymmetrical case features a delicate brushed texture contrasting the mirror polished bezel which is topped by another technical first – a sapphire crystal.  The radially brushed blue dial is likewise in mint condition, with crisp white printing and applied logo at 12 o’clock.  Original white hour and minute hands and the smoothly sweeping center seconds hands are all in like new condition, with red and white date at 6 o’clock.

The original Omega Beta 21 movement is running well and keeping excellent time, with all functions operational.
