A set of four archival photos depicting three Breguet pocket watches sold at Sothebys and Chrisites, circa 1964 – 65.

Breguet No. 64 (bottom left) and No. 124 (bottom right) were part of the collection of renown Breguet collector and scholar Sir David Lionel Salomons and are detailed in his famous book, “BREGUET, (1747 – 1823)” published in 1921, four years before his death in 1925.  Salomons inherited the title of Baronet from his late uncle in 1873, and was a noted engineer and author, serving as the Sheriff of Kent and the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells.  His collection eventually grew to an astonishing 124 Breguet watches, including the No. 160 “Marie Antoinette” and the No. 92 “Duc de Praslin”.

As the story goes, after his death he bequeathed 57 of his best pieces to the L.A. Mayer Institute in Jerusalem and the rest to his wife.  When his wife contacted Sothebys regarding a possible sale, she was dismissed – the individuals she contacted refused to believe she was in possession of such a trove of watches.

Photos mounted in thick acrylic 5″ x 7″ floating frame.

*Caution should be taken near watches as frames are held together magnetically.
