A rare gents Audemars Piguet reference 5205 BA automatic wrist watch, circa 1964.  The C-shape case is a characteristic design of Gerald Genta, who designed every Audemars Piguet timepiece from 1953 until 1973.  Full and sharp, the screw back case is 35mm excluding the original crown with brushed sides and top with a polished bezel.  A factory original silver sunburst dial remains in mint condition.  Cardinal indexes are polished gold and secondary indexes gloss black.  Gold rimmed date window at 3 o’clock.  Gold stick hands with center sweep seconds. Signed “AUDEMARS, PIGUET”, “GENÈVE”, “AUTOMATIC”, “SWISS”.

Powering the watch is an automatic winding Audemars Piguet caliber K2072 with 29 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions with an engine turned 18kt gold rotor, one of 881 K2072 produced between 1961 and 1967.  Condition is excellent and the movement is winding, running well and keeping the time.
